Yesterday, more than 50 pet lovers came together to view  a film screening on puppy mills which includes footage of the conditions of the 75 dogs.  They discovered the  realities of the pet trade.  They hope to engage everyone to help to put a  stop to this abuse in the name of profit.

The event aims to raise funds for the treatment of these dogs and to seek people with a big heart to come forward to help with the cleaning, treatment and rehoming.

It is time to make a stand.

A group of volunteers have been going there for the past few days to clean up the place, wash the dogs, feed the dogs, send the dogs to vets for help.

FACTS

1 Many of the dogs have skin problems, tick fever, are suffering from malnuitrition etc.Several need medical care. We are still in the process of sending the dogs for checkups.

2 There are no pups for adoption

3 These are ‘used dogs’ (used for breeding) and they have been traumatized

Have you watch this video entitled “VALIDATION”  on youtube?  It has been watched by more than 3 million people.  This is my all-time favourite youtube video. I can watch it a hundred times and still never get tired of it.

This 16 minute video clip Validation” is a fable about the magic of free parking starring TJ Thyne & Vicki Davis. Writer/Director/Composer  is Kurt Kuenne. It won numerous awards.

To me, this is about validating people’s worth, compliment people genuinely. Such simple gestures can touch people’s life. We need a lot of  validation cos we don’t get enough of it. When was the last time someone praise you or compliment you?

In 16 minutes, Kurt can tell a story so moving, so touching, it makes people cry and  laugh. It changes my life. When I tell my colleagues and people “You are awesome”, they are touched. It make their day.

After you watch this movie, start to find something to compliment someone.  It can their body features, the clothes they wear,  their  kind acts, their talents and achievements, their contribution to the world, or just who they are uniquely as a person.

If you read a blog and you like it,  leave a positive comment. This will encourage the author to write more of the things you like.

Tell them that “you are awesome”, “you are amazing” and you can see the smile on their face.  You can touch the world.

Most of the things are done automatically for the user. I don’t have to worry about selecting the transition effect, and creating text. For the newbies, automation helps the user to create a movie quickly without learning 101 things.

All I need to do is to select and put the pictures and select the music. It has a library of photos and music to choose from. For the text, it is put separately in a slide. I only need to enter 2 lines of text. No worry about the size, fonts or color.

Less choice means less work for the newbies. I find animoto is perfect to showcase portfolio, photo albums or sales promotion. Animoto the perfect choice for beginners to get started.

For this website, I hope to create more video than text posting. This new generation prefers watching a movie than to read text. I am a newbie at video creation. I am now taking a course on Video Production Workshop conducted by Kevin Riley.

You should select based on your PERSONALITY and lifestyle.  Dogs have their own personality. Some are good with babies. Some are active. Some sedentary. Some independent. And some needs lots of attention.For example, an owner’s sedentary lifestyle don’t match well  with an active dog who needs running and exercising.

A pet shop’s priority is profit while an animal shelter’s priority’s is to find a perfect match. Shelter homes know their dogs well. Divorce is not in their interest.

In animal shelters, you’ll find a better match than in a pet shop.

There are limited pets to choose  in a pet shop. In Singapore there are hundreds of pets available for adoption through the various animal shelters list from this website.

Puppies in particular need more of your attention such as house training, obedience training, and regular medical attention.  On the other hand, an adult is is calmer and may not need as much training or attention.

Staff at the pet shelters know the temperaments of the dogs, so they can help you find a perfect match based on your personality and lifestyle.
